If you’ve ever painted the inside of a house, let’s say, a bathroom for example, then you know that getting the paint to stick only to the walls, and not to everything else, can be a real task. Painting around mirrors, crown molding, door trim, toilet paper holders and the shower, in this case, can test the patience and skill of even them most confident house renovation do-it-yourselfer.
In the past, there was painter’s tape, that handy little solution you buy from any hardware store, aka blue masking tape. Designed with an extra amount of adhesive material, skilled interior painters could figure out how to make up for any flaws in the tape by pressing extra hard in seams, or requiring a great deal more effort, perhaps painting the seam where the tape meets the wall. In this case, you’d figure out what color was underneath, perhaps the white of the door molding, and then paint the seam that color, in case any paint from the wall bleeds through. Well now you don’t have to do that unnecessary and painful extra step. Now there’s FrogTape to the rescue.
So how does FrogTape work? Apparently, the company behind the product has a patented technology that they refer to as “PaintBlockĀ® Technology,” which is a super-absorbent material (a polymer, specifically) that does the same job the painted seam technique used to do, only much more easily. The seam now automatically establishes a micro-barrier that seals that seam, preventing any bleeding paint from leaking underneath and onto the adjoining surface.
FrogTape is available at any neighborhood hardware store, or at big box chain stores like the Home Depot.
