Replacing costly and wasteful paper towels with electric hand dryers is great not just for the planet, but great for your budget as well. Think about how much you spend time and money your office or business spends refilling paper towel dispensers. Also consider the time and money it then takes to dispose of those paper towels. Make a couple of simple estimations, and it’s very easy to understand just how quickly businesses can recover the investment of installing electric hand dryers and eliminating the hassle of paper towels. Just think of this – some manufacturers boast that you can actually cut costs by as much as 90% by making the switch.
Some of the more popular hand dryers are offered by World Dryer, Excel Dryer, Dyson, Dyson competitor Mitsubishi, and American Dryer.
We’ll give you a very brief overview of each below. Each offer some great options!
World Dryer has been making hand dryers for commercial use for over 50 years. They company also manufactures hair dryers and baby changing stations. Recently, World Dryer introduced a hand dryer that’s it claims to be the most environmentally friendly warm air dryer available, called the SMARTdri. Other models include the Airforce, the AirMax, the Airspeed, the Electric-Aire and the Nova. Visit the World Dryer website to see all of their models, and also to use their handy calculator. Excel Dryer makes the Xlerator hand dryer. As you may be able to guess by its name the Xcelerator dryer is fast – it drys hands in 10-15 seconds. Excel also claims that the dryer uses 80% less energy than competitors’ similar models. In fact, it is GreenSpec listed, and helps qualify your building for LEED credits. In addition to the Xcelerator, Excel Dryer also offers the Cast Cover Series, with hands-on and hands-off models, as well as the Lexan Series of hand dryers. Visit their website for a complete list of their products.
Dyson, first known for making a splash in the world of vacuums, has made an entrance into the realm of hand dryers. Dyson says that the The Dyson Airblade is the “only dryer that literally scrapes water from hands”. The company claims that the Airblade is the fastest hand dryer, and is one of the cheapest to run. The Dyson Airblade is available in grey, and now white, and appeals to many design conscience people. After all, their vacuum has earned it’s place in MOMA.
American Dryer prides itself on offering the most comprehensive selection of best in class models of hand dryers. The GX series is their most economical offering, they claim it provides the most value of any hand dryer sold today. Also offered are the DR/A Series, and the ExtremeAir EXT and ExtremeAir GXT. These dryers are fast, they too dry hands in 10-15 seconds, and of course, offer financial and environmental savings to other alternatives.
Seemingly in response to the Dyson Airblade, Mitsubishi created the Jet Towel. The Mitsubishi Jet Towel looks and operates similarly to the Dyson Airblade. This is not Mitsubishi’s first automatic hand dryer, in 1993, Mitsubishi invented a dryer which it calls “the most environmentally responsible hand dryer in the world. But the Jet Towel ushers in a new era of hand dryers for Mitsubishi.
